About Us
Homestyle Desserts originated in the Village of Buchanan, in 1969. The business emerged when Rose Sanca started making apple dumplings at a bake shop named, Dutch Mill Donuts. By 1974, she had started a line of cheesecakes. In 1975, she saw the hiring of Julie, who quickly learned both cheesecake baking and donut production. She was an excellent worker by all accounts. Today Julie is the manager of Homestyle Desserts, and our longest standing employee!
In 1984; after a few name changes, larger menu and a mostly wholesale client base, the bakery moved into a new location in Peekskill, New York. The building was previously the Monument Printers on South Water Street. Rose transformed the space into a working wholesale bakery with an eye headed towards building a retail business. By 1989, a space was dedicated to the ever budding interest by the public in our products.
In 2015, Rose retired and passed down her business to her children, Jason Elias and Laura Timmons. Jason and Laura are innovative bakers, responsible for; recreating the Apple Cider Donut and, deconstructing the Cannoli into Cannoli Chip and Dip. They have also successfully renovated the Bakery to create a beautiful new storefront, located across from the Peekskill Brewery. The new entrance allows for more space, for a wider range of products, including a tea and coffee station.
In 2018, Homestyle Desserts opened a new storefront in Cold Spring, NY. This storefront expands Homestyle's reach in the Hudson Valley area. They are very happy to be welcomed into the Cold Spring community. For this location, Laura and Jason were inspired to create new products that are Gluten Free and Vegan.

Directly next to the bakery they had the opportunity to start Homestyle Creamery (2019). The Creamery combines Homestyle's baked goods with ice cream. Everyday they are coming up with new ice cream cakes and pastry fusions! You can check out all the wonderful flavor options on the facebook page @HomestyleCreamery.
